Ikariam Alliance Sorter

Request for approval for a new script.

Script Summary:
Adds links in the Embassy and Diplomacy
Advisor to sorts the Alliance Members by last active date, name, rank,
points and number of towns.
Changes the lightbulb showing whether a player is on/offline to (i) if the player has not logged in during the last seven days.

Simple Overview of the Technical Stuff:

No additional HTTP requests are made;

Inner HTML of the table rows is parsed to extract data from each cell per alliance member and inserted into an array;
The online/offline setting of the class attribute is removed when a player has not logged in during the last 7 days and (i) is inserted into the cell inner HTML in it's place (if the class attribute is not modified then the image will appear behind the text making it unreadable);
The table header is modified to insert links to sort the columns in ascending/descending order; and
The array of data and methods to re-order the table are appended to the end of the web page (client side) and called when the user presses one of the re-ordering buttons.

I have made an update that makes a few cosmetic changes and improves the way that the page is created. Nothing has changed about how the data is collected or used.



Click on one of the up or down arrow symbols to sort ascending/descending respectively. Online, Name, Towns, Rank and Points sort by their respecive columns; Actions sorts by alphabetically by rank but makes sure that the leader, general, diplomat and home secretary are at the top (or bottom if you sort descending).

thanks Marty - one suggestion (perhaps i'm just blind)

but an option to have the text instead of lightbulbs / (I) - my reason? As home sec I like to be able to check, at a glance, who might be inactive soon, or who isn't logging in regularly.

I'll put a config option in to change this in the next couple of days. Most of the work is there but there is a little bit more that needs doing to create the user display.

Have added a new version of the script.

It now has the option to change how the online status is displayed (click the link at the bottom of the page to change the configuration).



Apart from that the script remains the same.

version 1.2.0 released:
  • Added a score checkpoint feature and an optional column to the table to show either the absolute or percentage increase in score.
  • Redone the sorting and parsing methods to improve how the script works with other scripts so that you can add columns to the table easily.
  • Recoded the script using jQuery (now easier to maintain but the old functionality is the same).

Minor bugfix to fix sorting a column of numbers with a non-number element - non-numbers will be given the value of negative infinity for sorting and place them last. This is necessary for sorting columns of generals scores where you do not know a score.

I just switched over from the all-in-one-embassy to this one (based on your advice in another thread), so that I could use it with some other your other scripts (keep up the good work!!!).

One of the features of the other embassy script that I enjoyed was the ability to see travel times to each of my ally's towns when I hover over the "town" thing that says total number of towns and gives coordinates for my allies. Would it be possible to add something like that into this script? If not, thanks for considering it.

I've made this comment to a couple of other people in private but I'll post it here - this script is an Alliance Sorter and as such it's purpose is to re-format the information that is already presented on the page. I am not contemplating adding extra features to the page as that is not the intention for this script. I'm sorry about this but the travel times feature is outside the scope I have defined for this script.

It is a reasonably easy to create a script to add travel times to the embassy/ally diplo views so I am sure if you put in a script request for this feature then someone can knock up a separate script to do this and, since it's already a feature of an approved script, there should not be much issue with getting it approved. If I get time I may even look at it myself but I am very busy with RL at the moment.

I was the one to add that functionality to Luca Saba's All-in-One.
Since I'm no longer maintaining that version of All-in-One, and I recommend the use of Alliance Sorter instead, I will be offering this functionality as a separate script, compatible with Alliance Sorter, CAT Indicator, and the other approved scripts that run on the Alliance tab of the Diplomatic Adviser.

This script is work-in-progress and should show up here when it has been approved.

  2. If you are running other scripts then try turning off all the other scripts and seeing if it will work. If it does not work then skip to (3). If it does work, then one at a time turn each script back on and check to see whether it will let you sort by total points after each one is turned on. Work out which script breaks the alliance sorter and let me know.
  3. If you click "Tools" > "Error Console" and then go to the embassy/alliance page; do any new errors occur? If so, please post the error message.
  4. Try sorting by total points; do any new errors occur?
  5. Does it let you sort by other columns?
  6. Do you have permissions to change ranks within the alliance?
You can turn a script off by going to "Tools" > "Greasemonkey" > "Manage User Scripts..." and in the window click on the name of the script you want to turn off and then deselect the "Enabled" checkbox.

I have the same problem and I've discovered that the All-In-One Embassy tool is the culprit. One feature of this tool is that it shows the change in a members total score in parentheses in the Total Score column. Perhaps that extra set of numbers within the Total Score column prevents the Alliance Sorter from sorting that column. If I disable the All-In-One then I can sort the Total Score column.

Whenever I need to sort by total score I just disable the All-In-One, reload the embassy, sort by Total Score, gather whatever info I need and then enable the All-In-One again. That may be too much of a hassle for some folks. I put up with it because I like both tools and want to keep them.[/list]
